All of these textiles are hand-made by Bedouin women in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt. They belong to a Muslim tribe that has, for many centuries, been associated with the Christian Orthodox Monastery of St. Catherine. At the initiative of Father Moses, a hermit affiliated with the Holy Monastery, and financial assistance from customers and supporters, these women now have a steady source of income that helps to support their families.

These funds help to provide them with access to health care, facilitate the schooling of their children and assist the building of new roads and water supply projects in the region. The women receive 50% of the proceeds in cash, while the other 50% are used to purchase materials to continue their work.
