Movements in the Soul – a study of the practice of Recollection

This is a collection of resources from a series of six reflections led by Julienne Mclean and Viv Stacey from October 2007 to March 2008.

The text for study was a selection from The Third Spiritual Alphabet – a practical guide for a simple, Christ-centred, inner spirituality, by Francisco de Osuna (c.1492-c1540). His teaching on recollection formed the thought of Teresa of Avila, the great Carmelite teacher on prayer in the Spanish golden age of mysticism.

‘This prayer is called ‘recollection’ because the soul collects its faculties together and enters within itself to be with its God’
Teresa de Avila
